Version 2.0 · Last updated 2 August 2026

This page explains what ITK does with personal data. It is longer than the usual notice because the site does something unusual: it analyses the professional output of named individuals. That deserves to be explained properly rather than buried.

⚠ To be completed before launch. This notice must name the operator by legal name and give a service address. That gap is deliberate and is filled before the site leaves sample data. Until then, contact picketalert@gmail.com.

Who the controller is

ITK is operated from the United Kingdom. The operator is the data controller for personal data processed through this site. All requests, questions and objections: picketalert@gmail.com.

Part one — if you are a visitor

ITK has no accounts, no login and no sign-up. It does not ask for your name or email, and there is no form asking for one except the appeals form, which you only use if you choose to.

Part two — if you are one of the reporters listed

This is the part that matters most, and it is written for you.

What is processed

Your name, your public X handle, your public profile picture and biography, the text and timestamps of your public posts, and the scores and classifications ITK derives from them. All of the source material is already public; deriving reliability figures from it is nonetheless processing of personal data, and it is a form of profiling.

Lawful basis

Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). The interests pursued are: informing the public about the reliability of transfer reporting they are exposed to daily; holding professional reporting to a transparent, consistently applied standard; and enabling readers to distinguish between reporters who break stories that prove real and those who do not.

A written Legitimate Interests Assessment is maintained covering purpose, necessity and the balance against your rights and reasonable expectations, and is available on request. Factors weighed include: the data concerns professional activity deliberately published to a large public audience, not private life; the analysis is confined to public professional output; the method is published in full; and correction and removal are available on request without needing a reason.

Automated decision-making and profiling

Classification and scoring are automated. They do not produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on you within the meaning of Article 22, but we treat the profiling seriously regardless. You may object at any time under Article 21. On objection we will either demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or stop processing your data and remove you from the leaderboard. Objections are assessed individually by a person, not by software.

Your Article 14 information

Your data is collected indirectly, from X's public API rather than from you. This page is the Article 14 notice. Where we hold contact details or a public channel for a listed reporter we will also notify them directly. Where individual notification would involve disproportionate effort, we rely on the Article 14(5)(b) exception and on this notice being public, linked from every page, and linked from the profile page of every reporter listed.

Retention

Correction, suppression and removal

Use report a classification or email picketalert@gmail.com. A credible dispute results in the item being suppressed from the visible scores within one working day while it is checked. You may ask to be removed from the leaderboard entirely, at any time, without giving a reason. Timescales are in the corrections policy.

Advertising

ITK uses Google AdSense to display adverts.

Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure adverts. Where those adverts are personalised, that happens only if you consent. If you are in the UK or the EEA you are shown a consent choice before any such cookie is set, and you can change your mind at any time from the link in that banner. Declining still shows adverts — they are simply non-personalised.

Google's own ad settings: myadcenter.google.com. How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

ITK does not sell personal data and passes nothing about you to advertisers itself.
